The magnetism can keep when the external magnetic field is turned off.The magnetism of electromagnet is created through electric current in a wire-wound coil and strengthened by a soft-iron core. As soon as you turn off the power, the soft-iron core loses its magnetisation.
2.The difference between Magnetic Strength:The Magnetic Strength of
neodymium magnet depends on the material.The electromagnet magnetic strenght is based on the amount of electric current allowed to flow into it.So the electromagnet magnetic strenght can be adjusted for different strength levels.
They have their own advantages,whatever neodymium magnet or electromagnet.
