Comparison between samarium cobalt magnet and neodymium iron boron magnet
Time:08/08/2019
(1) Different composition: NdFeB magnet: Rare earth metal 钕 29%-32.5% Metal element iron 63.95-68.65% Non-metallic element boron 1.1-1.2% Small amount added 镝 0.6-1.2% 铌 0.3- 0.5% Aluminum 0.3-0.5 % copper 0.05-0.15% and other elements. Samarium-Cobalt Magnet 2:17: Rare Earth Metal 钐Sm: 23-28% Rare Earth Metal Cobalt Co: 48-52% Metal Element Iron Fe: 14-17% Metal Element Copper Cu: 5-7% Small amount added zirconium Zr:2- 3
(2) Different performance Relatively speaking, the overall performance of samarium-cobalt magnets is weaker than that of NdFeB!
(3) Different prices The price of neodymium iron boron is lower than that of samarium cobalt with the same performance size of samarium cobalt magnet and neodymium iron boron magnet! Of course, the ratio of the metal elements from the above can be seen! The content of iron in NdFeB is higher, the content of rare earth elements is less, and the price of iron is very cheap, so the price of NdFeB is cheaper! The content of rare earth elements lanthanum and cobalt in samarium cobalt magnets accounts for about 70%, so The price is slightly higher!
(4) Different ability to withstand high temperature, oxidation and corrosion. The content of iron in NdFeB is very high, so it is easy to be oxidized and corroded. Therefore, it is necessary to do electroplating treatment. The service life is largely determined by the effect of plating! The content of iron in the samarium-cobalt magnet is only a small part, and it is basically rare earth and metal elements which are not easily oxidized and corroded. Generally, it is not required to be electroplated; however, the use environment is rather harsh or the lifespan is to be used to extend the appearance. It will be better to do electroplating!
